భోగి పండుగ కథ|భోగి పళ్ళు కథ| భోగి మంటలు ఎందుకు వేస్తారు|Bhogi Pallu Story in telugu|Bhogi Story#bhogi #sankranthi #ekadashi Bhogi (భోగి) is the first day of the grand four-day Makara Sankranti festival celebrated across South India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. It usually falls on January 13th or 14th.The word "Bhogi" comes from the Sanskrit word Bhoga, which refers to enjoyment or worldly pleasure. It is a day dedicated to Lord Indra (the God of Clouds and Rain) to thank him for the abundance of the harvest and to seek his blessings for the coming year. Bhogi Mantalu (The Sacred Bonfire) The defining feature of the day happens at dawn. People wake up early and light a large bonfire using old wood, broken furniture, and discarded items from the house. Symbolism: This act represents "out with the old, in with the new." Burning these items symbolizes the destruction of old habits, negative thoughts, and the ego, clearing the path for new beginnings. Bhogi Pallu (Blessing Children) In the evening, a special ceremony is held for children (usually under 5 years old) The Ritual: Elders gently pour a mixture of Regi Pallu (Indian Jujube berries), coins, flowers, and pieces of sugarcane over the heads of the children. Purpose: It is believed that this ritual protects children from the "evil eye" (Drishti) and blesses them with longevity and health. Neighbors are often invited to participate Godadevi's Wedding: In many Vaishnavite temples, Bhogi marks the conclusion of Dhanurmasam (a holy month). It is celebrated as the day Goddess Andal (Godadevi) married Lord Ranganatha (a form of Vishnu) after her month-long devotion. #bhogi #sankranthi #godhadevi #bhogipallu #bhogimantalu
