The room where the Showa and Heisei Emperors stayed, Nanae Yae, is the most distinguished guest room in Yunoshimakan. The room layout is 31 square meters with an antechamber and a cypress bath. Located at the far end of the main building, this room offers a view of the Hida River and the city of Gero in a pure Japanese style. The Kumoino-no-ma, a special room in the main building, is also the room where the Emperor had his meals. It is a cozy room with two Japanese-style rooms that are not too large and a tea ceremony room. The floor post has a carving of a cicada that takes advantage of the coloring of the wood, and together with the carving of a squirrel that is aiming at it, the design shows the playful spirit of the master carpenter. The room is also currently popular as a room with an open-air bath.
