Latimer was an African American inventor who played a critical role in the development of the light bulb through his innovations in the design of carbon filaments. Incandescence tells his story - With an ever present forward motion, light and creativity ebb and flow as inspiration fuels development. You can hear the scientific method at work as small changes interact and blossom into new ideas, new insight. The composer, Adrian B. Sims, is a local hometown hero, growing up in the Annapolis area and attending the University of Maryland, where the university created the professional recording for this very composition. He is a leading voice among promising young composers and is currently studying composition at the University of Texas - Austin. With many awards and accolades earned by his work already, Bay Winds is honored to play a small part in showcasing his musical vision. Here is “Incandescence.”
