VENICE, CA — Friday, October 31, 2025 — A coordinated multi-agency cleanup operation took place Friday morning across several key areas of Venice Beach—including the public art walls, Muscle Beach, and the boardwalk—as part of the City of Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to maintain sanitation, safety, and accessibility in public spaces. The operation was led by the Department of Public Works in collaboration with Los Angeles Park Rangers, Environmental Compliance Inspectors (E.C.I.), Clean Harbors Environmental Services, LA County Beaches and Harbors, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and a homeless coordinator from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office. Advance cleanup notices had been posted prior to the operation, alerting individuals camping in the area. In accordance with city protocol, inspectors provided 60-gallon bags for personal belongings and informed individuals that they could retain no more than 60 gallons of property under Los Angeles Municipal Code §56.11. Those present complied, gathering personal items before sanitation teams began clearing the area. Environmental Compliance Inspectors and hazmat specialists identified and safely removed hazardous materials, including batteries and aerosols. Clean Harbors personnel managed toxic waste, while Public Works crews cleared trash and bulky debris from sidewalks, beach pathways, and recreation areas surrounding the boardwalk. Representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office coordinated inter-agency communication, while LAHSA outreach workers distributed bottled water, food, hygiene kits, and offered access to supportive housing and mental health resources. No arrests or citations were reported during the operation.
