SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Zhang Qiyue, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson: "We should firstly try to avoid influencing normal teaching and life at the German school, for the sake of the safety of the teachers and students there. As for the question of who should be responsible for these incidents, the governments concerned are discussing the issue. But one important thing is that security measures should be strengthened to guarantee normal teaching and life on the campus." 4. Three people getting out of taxi and climbing over school wall STORYLINE: China is looking into the cases of three suspected North Korean asylum seekers who entered a German school in Beijing, but does not consider such people legitimate refugees, its Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday. Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said China confirmed that three "unidentified people" had entered the school. Two men and a woman climbed over a wall into the school on Monday afternoon. The German Foreign Ministry later confirmed that three people, believed to be the same group, were in the German Embassy. More than 100 North Koreans fleeing hunger and repression at home have been permitted to travel to South Korea after seeking asylum in diplomatic compounds and foreign schools in the Chinese capital since March. However, Zhang said China did not consider such individuals to be refugees but "people who entered China illegally for other reasons," a characterisation aimed at avoiding embarrassment to North Korea. Zhang said the issue of who bore responsibility for security at the German school was currently being discussed by Beijing and Berlin.
