Join us for a fun and festive 30-minute live coding session using J2Code (Visual) from the Just2easy tool-suite. In this session, pupils will build a simple seasonal game using sequences and events – perfect for developing logic and problem-solving skills through creative computing. Year Groups: England & Wales: Year 4 – Year 6 Northern Ireland & Scotland: Primary 5 – Primary 7 Lesson Breakdown: Introduction (5 mins): Talk about what makes a fun game – movement, interaction, characters. Introduce the idea of coding sequences and events (e.g. “when clicked”, “move”, “say”). Demonstration (10 mins): Open J2Code (Visual) and model how to: Select festive sprites (Santa, snowman, presents, etc.) Add a background Use event blocks (e.g. when clicked) and sequence blocks (e.g. move, say, play sound) Pupil Activity (15 mins): Children follow along to create a basic interactive game – e.g. “Catch the Present”: click the moving present to score points “Help Santa Fly”: make Santa glide across the screen with sound effects Plenary (5 mins): Showcase a few pupil creations (if shared), and demonstrate how to save their game. Pupil Outcomes: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: Understand and use sequence and event-based programming Create and personalise a simple festive game Use logical reasoning to predict and debug Save and share their digital creation Pupils should be logged into the Just2easy tool-suite with 1:1 device access. No prior experience with J2Code is required – full support will be given throughout the session. The lesson will begin at 9:30am BST on Monday 8th December 2025, and can be paused as needed to support pupil progress. Need help accessing the session? Contact support@j2e.com
