Vettisfossen is Norway’s highest unregulated single-drop waterfall at 275 metres, and one of the most beautiful in Scandinavia. But did you know many hiking guides leave out important details about how to reach it? In this video, we walk you through the full hike to the upper viewpoint of Vettisfossen, located deep in the stunning Utladalen valley near Årdal, at the end of the famous Sognefjord. You’ll learn: -Where to park and how to get there without a car 🚗🚌 -What to expect on the 15 km roundtrip hike -Hidden waterfalls along the trail (like Avdalsfossen and Hyljefossen) 💦 -Trail markings that many hikers miss -The difference between the upper and lower viewpoints Why this waterfall is protected and still untouched by hydropower We also explain why this “moderate” hike actually takes 5-6 hours and why many sources underestimate the time needed. 🟡 Difficulty: Medium 🕓 Duration: Around 6 hours (with breaks) 🎥 Drone use is prohibited in the nature reserve 🚫 Don’t ignore fences: They signal real danger here in Norway! If you're planning a visit to Jotunheimen, Årdal, or Sognefjord, this is one of the most rewarding day hikes you can do. 👉 Looking for more hidden gems in Norway?
