JEFFERSON COUNTY- Jessica Crawford Port Arthur Police arrested 20-year-old Jesus Rocha Tuesday afternoon. Officers say Rocha used a knife in an aggravated assault in September 2014. Investigator Marcelo Molfino with the Jefferson County District Attorney's office says Rocha is a member of the Surenos 13 gang."We would characterize as one of the enforcers," says Molfino. "Whenever they have a mission or they have something they want to do, they're mad at someone, you can categorize him as one of the enforcers that carry out what the gang wants to do." Rocha is one of nine defendants in the District Attorney's office injunction. Port Arthur Police tell us when they found Rocha, he was violating several parts of the injunction aimed at limiting gang activity. The nine men can't wear gang colors, show gang signs, or hang out together in a "Safety Zone," an area where investigators are trying to root out gang activity "If he's going to roll around with a baseball bat, with a bandana, and basically saying 'Hey, I'm going to be a Sureno and you're not going to stop me, well this is going to show him that yes, they will stop him," says Molfino. Port Arthur Police Sergeant Scott Gaspard says the arrest will serve notice on other gang members.. "The first arrest, this will be a test case, and see how the other gang members that are identified will react," says Gaspard. "So there's a lot more eyes looking at them than they realize," says Molfino. "So it's either going to be 'get out of the gang, or get dealt with.'"
