He serves as the Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Group Lead for Heart and Lung Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bengaluru. Holding an M.Ch in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from Kasturba Medical College, an M.S in General Surgery from J.J.M Medical College, and an M.B.B.S from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, he has furthered his expertise with executive courses from IIM Lucknow and IIM Calcutta. Dr. Julius has held key roles at premier institutions such as Narayana Health, Global Health City, and Kasturba Medical College, leading groundbreaking advancements in heart and lung transplantation, congenital cardiac care, and complex cardiovascular procedures. His international experience at St. Vincent's Hospital and Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney adds a global perspective to his surgical expertise. Notably, he pioneered an outreach program in Assam, expanding access to cardiac care for infants with congenital heart conditions. A prolific researcher and medical innovator, Dr. Julius has authored numerous articles in prestigious journals, contributing to advancements such as pulmonary hemorrhage management and myocardial revascularization techniques. He has lectured at national and international conferences and holds memberships in esteemed organizations, including the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons, and the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons. As Vice President of the Society for Heart Failure and Transplantation and a former executive committee member of the Indian Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, he has driven policy and research initiatives. His pioneering work includes establishing Karnataka’s first Homograft Heart Valve Bank and leading the state's first simultaneous heart and lung transplant. Recognized with the Dr. M.R.S. Menon Gold Medal for excellence in cardiovascular surgery, Dr. Julius continues to push the boundaries of cardiac care, revolutionizing surgical techniques and patient outcomes.
