https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B079... This is a long term review as I bought this item last spring, 2019. This also should be marked as a "Verified Purchase" since I bought this exact skiver from Amazon.ca from this same seller. I dabble in leather and I got rather tired quickly of having to purchase different thicknesses of the same color leather and because of the extra costs as well as the hassle of having that much extra material left over from making an individual project I need to find another way. Enter stage right, a Skiver. Local leather shops of course do have skivers and they will spend some of their time showing you all the features of their skivers some of which are very similar to this version. However there is a MAJOR difference, PRICE ! I bought this at a $45 price point so not that bad. ( less expensive now it looks like ) Basically same exact model as this at one of my local leather shops was at the $150 price point. I'll pass. I found this, I bought this, it arrived, it was used. Only one word, " perfect ". Zero issues, setup is almost nonexistent and you’re ready to go skiving in seconds. To use this basically undo the bolt, insert the blade, retighten. The large silver adjustment nut on the bottom of the machine will raise or lower the roller against the blade. Clockwise = tighten. Counterclockwise = make loose. For my own skiver I put a couple wraps of electrical tape around the top edge as some replacement blades are longer than factory. A set of replacement blades from a 3rd party source I tried out ended up being a few mm longer. That is my own thing, nothing to do with this machine. TIP ► When drawing the leather past the blade pull the entire width of the leather with a constant force than starting and stopping, pulling quick, pulling slow. A slow even motion will provide a nice even thickness layer. Pulling haphazardly will not give proper results and can even tear the leather when working with thin pieces. TIP ► Pull the entire width of the leather piece from end to end when using this type of skiver. If you have a 1" width piece of leather and you just pull from a corner, the leather can track off from being centered on the cutting blade easily. TIP ► Also especially when working with thin pieces of leather it is important to pull from that entire leather width so the leather is evenly shaved as it passes the blade. It's possible for thin pieces of leather to pucker and then as it passes the blade it can easily miss cut. TIP ► Blades will quickly dull, only use the sharpest blade to get the best results. Skivers are very easy to use and when done right they are amazing simple machines that help us out so much. I've skived must be now dozens upon dozens of meters on my machine and it has performed flawless, as it will for you too. Helpful, is how I hope you find my review
