In this video, I dub Absolute Superman Issue 3, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval. This issue is set almost entirely on Krypton and shows a very different origin for Superman. Jor-El and Lara-El are members of the Labor Guild, living as working-class citizens while the ruling Science League hides the truth about Krypton’s destruction. We see a young Kal-El already questioning authority, rejecting A.I.-generated thinking, and pushing back against the strict class system of his world. The issue also features Lara-El using the experimental Sol suit to break Jor-El out of prison, revealing the origin of Superman’s technology and cape. The story ends with a major twist involving the Kents, hinting that their role in Kal-El’s life is very different in the Absolute Universe.
