Plane crash into Phoenix homes forces neighborhood evacuation

Three people are injured after a plane went down and crashed into a north Phoenix neighborhood early Wednesday morning. A spokesperson with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says just before 7:30 a.m., a Piper PA-28 crashed into a neighborhood near Cave Creek Road and Deer Valley Drive on its way back to Deer Valley Airport. Two people were on board the plane at the time of the crash. Phoenix Fire Capt. Todd Keller says the pilot instructor and student were hospitalized in stable condition. The fire captain says both sustained minor cuts and burn injuries, but they were alert as they were being treated. “It hit two houses. Fortunately, everyone was okay. Situations like this when you do have multiple residences involved and you have houses with people coming and going, it is a miracle that no one was injured,” Capt. Keller explained.
