This is a Indian classical Kathak dance performance, Chaturang - is a type of composition in Hindustani classical music. The word basically means 4 colors, and it incorporates four different styles. Bol - poetry set to the selected raaga Sargam - singing the notes instead of the words of a composition Tarana - words or syllables set to a brisk laya Trivat / tabla bols - tabla or pakhavaj bols set to tune Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and few have greatness thrust upon them. Dr. Ragini Makkhar is one of those few. She was initiated into the art of Kathak at the age of five and has been endowed with a creative mind and an exquisite pursuit for learning the intricacies of this classical Indian dance form. She has delivered innumerable performances nationally and internationally and has aptly been bestowed with awards and recognition on several prominent platforms. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
