WELCOME HOME SGT. DURAN Hundreds of police officers, firefighters, first responders, and members of the public from across the state of Oklahoma joined in a solemn procession honoring fallen El Reno Police Officer Sgt. Thomas Duran. The procession accompanied Sgt. Duran on his final journey home to Kingfisher. Sgt. Duran was tragically struck by a vehicle in the early morning hours of October 17th in El Reno while assisting a pedestrian. Sgt. Duran unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on October 24. A man of strong Christian faith, he lived his life in service to others through his work in law enforcement and his dedication to his community. Even in passing, his compassion continues, as he was an organ donor who will help save many lives amidst this tragic loss. The procession began at the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City, traveling along I-235 South to I-40 West, and continuing onto Highway 81 to Sanders Funeral Service in Kingfisher. Numerous agencies participated in the procession, including the El Reno Police Department, Kingfisher Police Department, Kingfisher County Sheriff's Office, Kingfisher Fire Department, Yukon Police Department, Bethany Police Department, Warr Acres Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, multiple county sheriff’s offices, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security, and many others from across the state who came together to honor Sgt. Duran. Following the procession, family members, fellow officers, and community supporters gathered for a reception at Sanders Funeral Home, with food generously provided by The Shed Grill & Bar - Kingfisher.
