One of my favorite items to make, I created my bucket hat pattern a little over a year and a half ago, and recently, I finnaallly got it digitized (in four sizes)! #createeveryday #diy #buckethat #sewing I am a big fan of bucket hats. They are perfect for any adventure and super cute! This is the perfect DIY with four sizes to choose from, fabric choice freedom & the option of reversible or single sided. LINK TO BUCKET HAT PATTERN ↓ https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XP0o... Materials ~ 1/2 yard of fabric for single sided ~ 1/2 yard of fabric of each side for reversible; total: approx. 1 yard ~ 1/2 medium iron-on interfacing thread rotary cutter / fabric scissors iron sewing pins / clips sewing machine bucket hat pattern Sizing To measure your head circumference, take a sewing measuring tape or even a string, and wrap around above the ears and across your eyebrows. Please stick your finger under the tape so there is a little room and there you have head circumference! If you fall between measurements go for the next size up. X-Small; 50 - 52 cmSmall; 54 - 56 cmMedium; 58 - 60 cmLarge; 62 - 64 cm Bucket Hat Instructions Step 1: Prepare Fabric The first thing to do is to print the bucket hat pattern & cut the fabric pieces. Make sure to choose the correct size; the instructions and sizing is in the description. If you are creating a single sided bucket hat, you will need 1 top piece, 2 band pieces, and 4 brim pieces. If you are creating a reversible bucket hat, you will need 2 top pieces, 4 band pieces, and 4 brim pieces. For the reversible hat, you have the option of using medium iron on interfacing, interfacing helps the brim of the hat more stable. I recommend using interfacing for cotton, linen, or other lightweight fabrics. Step 2: Sew Ends of Brim & Band Pieces Set the top pieces aside and place the brim and band pieces right sides facing together. Sew both ends of the brim and band pieces using a 3/8 seam allowance. Step 3: Attach Band & Top Pieces Set the brim pieces aside. Next, take your band pieces and top pieces and pin the pieces on both ends right sides facing together, or if you prefer you can pin all the way around. To help indicate where to pin, I fold the top pieces together and create creases on both sides. Using a 3/8 seam allowance, sew all the way around both pieces. Step 4: Attach Band & Brim Pieces Set the top piece face down, and place the brim over, right sides facing together. Align the end pieces and pin the ends, or if you prefer you can pin all the way around. If you are doing the reversible hat, do the same thing to the other set. Using a 3/8 seam allowance, sew all the way around both pieces. Step 5: Attach Hats Place one hat face up, and place the other hat on top, right sides facing together. Make sure to align and pin the ends. Using a 3/8 seam allowance, sew all the way around leaving around a 3-inch opening. Step 6: Flip Inside Out Turn the hat inside out by pulling the fabric through the opening. Step 7: Iron Brim Next, iron around the ends of the seam lines. Doing this will ensure a clean finish for sewing around the brim. Step 8: Topstitch Brim First using a 1/8 seam allowance, topstitch the end of the brim all the way around. After the first go around, use a 3/8 seam allowance from the previous stitch line to continue topstitching all the way around the brim. ♡ Savanna from Sew Earthy Find me elsewhere - Etsy: Sew Earthy Co Pinterest: Sew_earthy Instagram: SewEarthy Tik Tok: SewEarthy YouTube: SewEarthy Email: HelloSewEarthy@Gmail.com Music: Ikson - Alive
