Ein Ausflug ins Inland. Ziel ist eine byzantinische Festung aus dem 5. Jahrhundert. Es ist die "von Gott beschützte Festung Neposi". Erster Zwischenstopp in Paleochori zum Verpflegung einkaufen - ein griechisches Dorf, wie es griechischer nicht geht. Mittags alle Geschäfte geschlossen. Mit dem Auto dann ca. 3km im 1.Gang einen Landweg Richtung Festung. Den letzten Kilometer zu Fuß. Es gibt dort einen kleinen Aussichtsturm mit Blick auf die Festung. Gleich nebenbei ein schmaler Wanderweg zur Festung Neposi. Gesäumt von Alpenveilchen und senkrechten Kanten (ca. 60m) zum Fluss. Von der Festung stehen nur noch ein paar Mauerreste. Mittagessen waren wir in Ierissos auf Athos (mal kein Gyros Pita - muss nicht besser schmecken). Relaxen am Strand von Pyrgadikia. Nächster Tag: Wir fahren ins Bergdorf Parthenonas oberhalb von Neos Marmaras. Zuerst eine kleine Wanderung zu einer Kapelle (Ekklisia Agios Athanasius). Dann Mittagessen in der Taverne von Paul. Dieser hatte das ausgestorbene Dorf wieder zum Leben erweckt. Nachmittags einen für uns neuen Strand gesucht. Rings um das Dorf Elia war Strand total umzäunt. Nix. Weiter Richtung Nikiti... Ostsee-Feeling. Dann am südlichsten Strand von Nikiti Station gemacht. Hinter dem Strand sollte ein Riesenhotel gebaut werden. Jetzt werden dort Unmengen von sehr großen Amphoren freigelegt... Nächster Tag: Wir sind noch einmal zur roten Steilküste von Nikiti gefahren. Heute ist es windstill und nichts steht ein paar Drohnenaufnahmen entgegen. Plötzlich sehen wir ca. 3m vom Ufer entfernt einen Schwarm Fische, von denen die meisten beim ruhigen Schwimmen den Kopf aus Wasser gestreckt halten. Was sind das für Fische? Weiter über Ormylia zum größten Frauenkloster Griechenlands dem "Evangelismos tis Theotokou" . Quer durch viele Olivenhaine (die Ernte hat begonnen). Das Kloster hatte "wegen Olivenpflücken" geschlossen. Weiter an den Strand von Vatopedi. Spät am Abend hat Inge noch das Heulen der Schakale (wie jede Nacht) vor unserem Balkon auf Video aufgenommen. A trip inland. The goal is a Byzantine fortress from the 5th century. It is the "fortress of Neposi protected by God". First stopover in Paleochori for food shopping - a Greek village that couldn't be more Greek. All shops closed at noon. Then about 3km by car in first gear on a country road in the direction of the fortress. The last kilometer on foot. There is a small lookout tower overlooking the fortress. There is also a narrow hiking trail to the Neposi Fortress. Lined with cyclamen and vertical edges (about 60m) to the river. Only a few remains of the walls of the fortress remain. We had lunch in Ierissos on Athos (no gyros pita - doesn't have to taste better). Relaxing on the beach of Pyrgadikia. Next day: We drive to the hilltop village of Parthenonas above Neos Marmaras. First a short hike to a chapel (Ekklisia Agios Athanasius). Then lunch at Paul's tavern. He brought the dead village back to life. In the afternoon we looked for a new beach. Strand was completely fenced around the village of Elia. Nothing. Continue towards Nikiti... Baltic Sea feeling. Then stopped at the southernmost beach of Nikiti. A giant hotel was to be built behind the beach. Now vast amounts of very large amphorae are being uncovered there... Next day: We drove again to the red cliffs of Nikiti. Today there is no wind and nothing stands in the way of a few drone shots. Suddenly we see a school of fish about 3m from the shore, most of which keep their heads out of the water while swimming calmly. What are these fish? Continue via Ormylia to the largest women's monastery in Greece, the "Evangelismos tis Theotokou". Across many olive groves (harvest has begun). The monastery had closed "because of olive picking". Continue to Vatopedi beach. Late in the evening Inge videotaped the howling of the jackals (like every night) in front of our balcony.
