Perennial Seed Cold Stratification and Germination - The Easy Way

Some perennial seeds need cold stratification before they will germinate. That basically means that they need to be exposed to some winter like freezing temperatures before they will germinate. You can mimic nature by using your refrigerator, but I've never had a whole lot of luck with that technique. Instead, I like to leave my seeds outside all winter, and let Mother Nature do all the work. That way they get exposed to real winter conditions. And to me, it is much easier. Many, and probably most seed companies pre-stratify seeds before you buy them.
