After diagnostic was performed it was determined that the knock sensor would have to be replaced. Unforchanetly on this Nissan Xterra, the knock sensor is not acceptable unless the upper and lower intake manifolds are removed. Labor time to do this by the book is about 5 hrs. So not the easiest or the cheapest repair. There is an option to relocate the knock sensor to save money. I will tell you in my video the pros and cons of trying to relocate the knock sensor. The purpose of the knock sensor is to retard the timing to prevent cylinder detonation, in turn, preventing engine damage.
