Canadian Singer Sarah Cali Turns Personal Faith Journey Into Music

Canadian singer Sarah Cali says music has been in her veins since she was a young girl and now she is using her passion to bring glory to God.  "I've always loved singing. I was in the choirs and on the worship team," Cali says. "I fell in love with the presence of God when I was 16. We were going through different things in our family and my parents took me to this church that is so filled with the presence of God." Cali says that her life was completely transformed. "You can feel like you're just living aimlessly, like you're just going day by day. When I experienced that encounter with Jesus, it changed everything for me." While Cali was raised in the church and surrounded by music, creating her own music is still something new. " From different things that I've gone through, this is something that I felt God called me to in the last year, to be honest. It's been a journey, but it's been beautiful. I feel like I'm falling in love with Jesus more and more as we go." Cali says it started while sitting in her grandmother's room. "That's a place that I would spend time with God a lot after she had passed. One day I was sitting in that chair, and all of a sudden, God showed me this picture and it was the album cover." She recalls talking to God, wrestling with where He was calling her. "Things are expensive. But if God calls you to do it, please go for it because we need you in this generation. I wrestled with God with this for a few months. It was not something I wanted to do because of all the costs and the logistics that come with it. And God was saying to me, 'There are people who need to hear your story. There are people who need to hear the songs you're going to write.' And I was like, God, that's great, but I don't want to. So He wrestled with me and He got His way." Now, Cali is excited to share her music in her debut album, Inside of Me.  The project includes her song "Deeper" which she prays reminds listeners of a simple truth. "It doesn't matter how dirty, how broken, what you've been through in your life, or if you feel like you're unqualified or not good enough for the love of God. My life is a living testimony of that. I went through a really difficult season about eight or nine years ago. And from that moment, I remember saying, 'God, I don't think I can do this anymore. I don't think that I'm worthy anymore. I don't think that You can use me.' In that moment,I believed a lie, but the truth was that God saw deeper. He saw the plan. He saw the purpose that He had for my life." During the tough season, Cali was reminded that God's plan is always bigger. "When God calls somebody, when He puts a plan and a purpose on their life. It doesn't matter what the enemy says. It doesn't even matter the lies that we believe or the things that we think about ourselves. The truth is that when God calls us, He sees so much deeper."
