In this video, we will discuss an electric circuit having three diodes and three DC voltage sources. In the analysis of a circuit containing diodes, we may not know in advance which diodes are on and which are off. Thus, we are forced to make a considered guess. Then, we will analyze the circuit to determine the currents in the diodes assumed to be on and the voltages across the diodes assumed to be off. If the diode current is positive for the diodes assumed to be on and if diode voltage is negative for the diodes assumed to be off, our assumptions are correct, and we have solved the circuit. Otherwise, we must make another assumption about the diodes and try again. After a little practice, our first guess is usually correct, at least for simple circuits. We will use the constant-voltage model to model the diode and determine the required values for the circuit.
