Let’s talk about something many new moms experience but don’t always understand—nagging hip, knee, or even low back pain after delivery. So, you’ve had your baby, and things are coming along, but you’re left wondering, Why am I still in pain? There’s no more baby putting pressure on your body, so what gives? Let’s break it down: Why Does Pain Linger After Pregnancy? 🟠 Relaxin Hormone Stays in Your System: Relaxin is a hormone that helped your body stretch and accommodate your growing baby. Even after delivery, it can linger in your body, especially if you’re breastfeeding, sometimes for up to 5–12 months after you stop nursing. This can contribute to joint laxity (looseness) and instability, leading to discomfort. 🟠Weight and Adaptation: During pregnancy, your body adapted to carry 20–50 extra pounds. Even if most of the weight and swelling are gone, your body might still be adjusting to these postural and structural changes. 🟠 Postpartum Limitations: Pain can make everyday activities, like getting up from the floor or returning to your workouts, feel daunting. Mental health and “me time” are so important during postpartum recovery, but lingering pain can make it harder to stay active and feel like yourself. What’s Next?
