Welcome to today’s episode! We have an exciting topic to dive into—SpinKube, a framework that's generating a lot of buzz for running WebAssembly workloads on Kubernetes. We’ll discuss the caveats and the future of running WASM alongside containers. Plus, we’ll cover how it ties into real-world business cases like generative AI. Folks who're completely new to WASM, listen to "Why Containers and WASM Work Well Together" Episode 81 - @cloudnativefm 🔗 • Why Containers and WASM Work Well Together... 🔗 Fermyon, Microsoft, SUSE, Liquid Reply and others collectively released the open source SpinKube project for running Spin-flavored Wasm Kubernetes applications. SUSE announced Rancher Desktop support for WebAssembly, using its K3s Kubernetes runtime. Fermyon announced a commercially supported, ultra-dense Fermyon Platform for Kubernetes, capable of running 5,000 Wasm apps per Kubernetes node. Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s wasmCloud project reached 1.0, and supports Kubernetes integration. And NGINX Unit announced support for running Spin apps inside of its application platform. In this episode we invited Matt Butcher for technical caveats—what challenges developers should expect when running WASM workloads on Kubernetes? How does the performance of WASM compare with traditional containerized workloads? Are there any key areas where WASM excels or lags behind?” Subscribe to @cloudnativefm and enjoy the episode. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👋 Meet our Guest 👋 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Matt Butcher CEO @ Fermyon Technologies 👋 https://x.com/technosophos 👋 Matt Butcher is the co-founder and CEO of Fermyon, the WebAssembly in the Cloud company.
