We need to install Splunk enterprise in 3 instances , follow my video on how to setup splunk enterprise on centos :    • Splunk Linux Setup | Splunk Configuration ...   To turn of indexing in search head, create the file outputs.conf under /opt/splunk/etc/system/local Turn off indexing on the search head [indexAndForward] index = false [tcpout] defaultGroup = my_search_peers forwardedindex.filter.disable = true indexAndForward = false [tcpout:my_search_peers] server=192.1xx.0.xxx:9997,192.1xx.0.xxx:9997 Once you add search peer it uses the certificates under the location for authentication /opt/splunk/etc/auth/distServerKeys/ a distsearch.conf file will be created under /opt/splunk/etc/system/local/distsearch.conf and it will have the details of the search peer which is the indexers.
