Donated by Lou Rugani. "Kenosha: The Right Place" was produced by Wisconsin Bell in 1988, in partnership with many Kenosha-area organizations and city and county government. Kenosha was entering a phase of redevelopment and the video was intended to showcase the community as an area for future economic growth. The video is from 1988 and was not played much. It gets wobbly in the last quarter of the runtime: exercising the tape minimized the wobble but did not eliminate it. We have another copy donated from another party and it is affected with sticky shed, so it may be this tape is on its way out. ------------------ Thank you! The Kenosha History Center houses the main offices, three exhibit galleries, the gift shop and our Archives. The Southport Light Station, located next to the History Center building, features the fourth gallery. The Southport Light Station is composed of the 1866 historic lighthouse and the adjacent 1867 historic Lighthouse Keeper's home. Both floors of the Lighthouse Keeper's home have been restored to a 1908 time period. The Southport Light Station Museum focuses on the shipping industry, fishing, lighthouse keepers and the live saving station. The Southport Light Station Museum is open mid May through the end of October.
