In #Ethiopia Amhara region, South Wollo Zone is one of the largest IDP hosting areas in the region, hosting 13,935 Internally displaced peoples (IDP) in 10 camps. The extremely harsh conditions leave IDPs without enough food, clean water, or even basic hygiene items like soap. As the rainy season approaches, fear grows. The tents many rely on are old and leaky, offering no protection from the cold and rain. Water scarcity is severe in IDP camps. In Jari 2, families must rely on just 3 tanks of 10,000 liters per week, This amounts to about 2.1 liters per person per day, far below the recommended minimum of 15 liters. Many IDPs, including women and girls, must walk through a dark, unfinished tunnel to reach a nearby spring. IDPs in other camps also face similar humanitarian crises despite the scale of need, these areas remain critically underserved by humanitarian actors.
