I made four trips with my Coleman wagon to the local grocery and supply stores, loading up our boat with everything needed for weeks of exploration. Our trusty vessel, "Vestri", powered by a fuel-efficient 120-horsepower Ford Lehman engine, took on 250 liters (66 gallons) of fuel, costing approximately $500 (360 USD), bringing us back to full capacity, just as we had when we left Lund in early June. I also filled my 180-gallon water tanks, including a 60-gallon freshwater bladder, and stocked our 50-liter ICECO freezer with homemade casseroles, chili, and frozen veggies and meats. With the decks washed down and supplies secured, we’re ready to cruise for two to three weeks. After departing the bustling marina, where massive yachts dwarf my boat and mechanics swarm to service vessels, Anne set course for the Broughton Archipelago via Commerant Channel and Blackfish Sound. The journey is alive with wildlife: humpbacks breach in the distance, sea otters float lazily, and two eagles soar right over us, though I miss capturing them on camera. The calm seas and light winds make for smooth sailing, and I marvel at the strong currents swirling past Stubbs Island and into Weyton Passage. We pause in Blackfish Sound to fish, hoping for salmon like last year, while whale-watching boats zip by.
