In this video I have explained where the GEQ sits inside signal chain inside PA system. I have explained if you have a analogue GEQ and Analogue mixer then how to connect and how to use it. How to ring out monitors or get rid of the feedback in the live environment. Make sure if you are using the built in digital GEQ of a digital mixer then set the Q( quality factor ) value to 1/3 Octave which in Q value is about 4.32. This is a necessary because otherwise when you cut a certain frequency in dB value and if the Q value is small in numbers then it's going to have a larger effect on the neighbouring frequencies which we don't want , this is the main reason the external GEQs are 1/3 octave for bandwidth and don't represent the Q value ( quality factor ). There are also many calculators online and formulas and explanation between the relationship of Q value and Bandwidth octave. I have also linked one of my videos with this video , in that video link ( • How to setup mic preamp in home recor... ) I have explained the relationship between Q value and Bandwidth octave so have a look.
