Dive Description: We begin the dive at the axis of the canyon, at a depth of 715 m. We will ascend along the axis for approximately 590 m to a depth of 663 m (wp4). Along this route, sediment samples will be taken using the pushcorer. A Niskin bottle will be closed at wp1. We will then approach the north wall of the canyon for 845 m (wp4-8) until we reach a flat terrace (wp8-12) located between 480 and 450 m. The terrace is crossed by a small channel, which we will cross at wp10 (487 m). Push cores will be extracted on the terrace and a Niskin bottle will be closed at wp9. We will then continue ascending a steep cliff (waypoints 12-17) from 450 to 190 m depth. Here we will enter the continental shelf, where we will cross some small-scale depressions (3-4 m deep) at wp18-19, wp21-22 and wp24. The water depth will remain between 170 and 174 m. Push cores and sediment samples will be obtained in this sector of the continental shelf, and a Niskin bottle will be closed at wp24. We expect to find an incised talweg at the canyon axis, a mixture of steep walls and one large relatively flat terrace along the canyon flank, and irregular depressions on the continental shelf, caused by iceberg impact or degassing processes.
