We have a 34 year old female with no past medical history. She was playing soccer, inverted her ankle while playing, and noticed immediate right ankle pain. After the incident she wasn't able to bear weight or ambulate. So, she went to the emergency department. I was consulted down and took a look. Upon talking to her she denies numbness or tingling. Her exam shows intact skin. Pinpoint tenderness to palpation to the lateral malleolus - but none to the forefoot or medial malleolus. Severe swelling was also noted on the lateral aspect of the ankle and forefoot. Sensation intact from L4-S1 distribution. Dorsalis pedis pulse intact.
