I had just 48 hours in Tallinn, Estonia, and I wanted to experience as much as possible — ancient towers, medieval walls, underground tunnels, Christmas markets, snow-covered streets, and even a candlelit medieval dinner. This Baltic city turned out to be one of the most magical places I’ve ever visited. We started at Cafe Maiasmokk, Tallinn’s oldest café, known for its traditional hand-painted marzipan, before exploring Kiek in de Kök and the eerie Bastion Tunnels, built in the 1600s and later used as wartime shelters, Soviet storage spaces, and even underground party spots. Walking along the medieval city walls brought Tallinn’s Hanseatic past to life, with narrow stone paths and red rooftops stretching below. Just outside the old town, Balti Jaam Market became a highlight — a mix of local food, artisan bakeries, and everyday Estonian life. From dumplings with dill and sour cream to a memorable duck and carrot pie at Põhjala Deli, the food scene did not disappoint. Dinner at Olde Hansa felt like stepping straight into the 1400s, followed by time wandering Tallinn’s atmospheric Christmas Market, Viru Gate, St. Catherine’s Passage, the historic Raeapteek pharmacy, and panoramic views from St. Nicholas Church. Tallinn is quiet, historic, and deeply atmospheric — a city that completely surprised me. Join me next as I slip away to Helsinki, Finland for a quick day trip between my two days in Tallinn. ♥️ Subscribe to my channel for more: / @theroamingryders 💛 Follow me on Instagram: / theryderlifeexpat 💌 For business inquiries: theryderlifeexpat@gmail.com
