Bussummerheide: A Natural Treasure in the Netherlands, Winter 2026 Playlist Fons Brouwer: • Fons Brouwer Composer, Musician, Music-editor Video: © Copyright 2026 by Fons Brouwer, Bussum The Bussummerheide is a beautiful and ecologically rich heathland located in the Gooi region of the Netherlands, near the towns of Bussum, Hilversum, and Huizen. Known for its open landscapes, purple heather fields, and peaceful atmosphere, the Bussummerheide is one of the most valued natural areas in North Holland. It offers a striking contrast to the surrounding urban environment and serves as a vital green refuge for both people and wildlife. The Bussummerheide is characterized by gently rolling heathland, sandy soils, patches of forest, and small fens. During late summer, the area becomes especially picturesque when the heather blooms in shades of purple and pink. Scots pine, birch, and oak trees border the open heath, creating a varied landscape that supports diverse plant and animal life. The heath itself is a semi-natural landscape, shaped over centuries by grazing and human land use. Music excerpt: Piano and String Quartet (1985) – Morton Feldman (1926–1987) There are four different tempi in the video: the immobile nature The movement of the people, the animals and the airplane The slow camera movement The slow music, which reinforces the slow tempo All of this takes place within 74 seconds
