Tour the LG Eco-City Garden, winner of a Silver-Gilt Medal at the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Designed by Hay Joung Hwang. Thanks to roving reporter @susancohan! The fascinating aspects of this garden were the seamless integration of technology and sustainability into what at-first-glance appears to be a well-designed and pretty garden/outdoor entertaining space. The yellow and grey color palette helps to create a positive and joyful sense of place. A step-over running water feature helps to muffle city noise pollution and provides habitat for fish to create waste to feed an edible garden on the pavilion walls. It also provides opportunities for hydroponic growing. Plants were chosen for their ability to help remove pollutants from city air and combined in a naturalistic way within the geometric structure of the garden itself.
