With a total area of 353㎢, it is one of the world’s five most extensive tidal flats and the only place on the west coast in Korea whose original shape is still preserved intact. There are various scenes presented in the vast area of tidal flats. Different characters appear on stage throughout the day, offering quite a sight for visitors. At low tide, the pace of time slows down. Crabs and shellfish stay near or inside caves, and fish go motionless while taking a rest. When the tide comes in, the ambiance of the mudflats turns lively and vibrant. Fish swarms around and resting spoonbills often make an appearance. As if they know they have only a few hours a day to enjoy the stage, everyone on tidal flats looks quite busy and tied up.
