Kep is one of the smallest provinces in Cambodia, covering an area of 336 km2 (130 sq mi) and having a population of 40,280. It is one of the newest provinces of Cambodia, along with Pailin, Sihanoukville, and Tbong Khmum, established by the Royal Decree on December 22, 2008, separated from Kampot by the border demarcation of several provinces. The provincial capital is Kep City and there is also a national park called Kep National Park. Kep is one of the four provinces along the southwest coast of Cambodia. Kep is not far from the Cambodian-Vietnamese border. Kep used to be a popular coastal city in Cambodia. The beach in Kep is a mangrove forest and black pebbles. Kep is rich in cheap but delicious seafood, especially sea crabs. Kep also has many products such as pepper, salt, fruit, turmeric, mango, coconut, rambutan, and many tourist attractions such as beaches, mountains, islands, caves, and many resorts. In particular, there are hotels for national and international tourists to stay there. Kep territory is surrounded by Kampot province, except for the 16 km coastline. Exit south on the border of the Gulf of Thailand and Phu Quoc Island (Koh Tral) of Vietnam. The western border is 20 km long. From Kampot city.
