With that in mind, in this episode I’m focusing on the idea of ‘Random’. I’ll start by showing you the Random playback possibilities within a lane of a Beat pattern, programmed for Drum Machine Designer. I’ll then move onto the idea of adding Automated Pattern data for a single Instrument inside a Track Stack, allowing snapshot parameters to Randomise during playback. This means that a sound, Randomly-triggered, can also produce unpredictable snapshots of parameter manipulation too, opening up Pattern Sequencing into the kind of territory that some of us hanker for when we look at modular synths and drum machines. The idea that we can use Automation as a series of control messages feels like a brave new horizon of creative fun.
