Hey Hi Hello... Thanks for watching :) Cochem Cochem is a beautiful scenic town in Germany with stunning views, and majestic castles are the pearl in the valley of the Moselle. The famous castle of Cochem towers proudly above the city. In the cosy centre, you will find half-timbered houses and lovely terraces. A charming town for a weekend away or holiday close by! It is worth a visit. Reichsburg Castle It is generally assumed that Cochem Castle was built around the year 1000 by the palatinate count Ezzo, son and successor to palatinate count Hermann Pusilius. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1051 when Richeza, Ezzo's oldest daughter and former Queen of Poland, gave the castle to her nephew, palatine count Henry I. The entire structure was rebuilt in the then-popular Neo-Gothic architectural style. This style corresponded to the romantic ideals in vogue in Germany in the 19th century. The trend throughout Germany was for nobility or other wealthy persons to purchase and refurbish castle ruins as family summer residences. The Ravené family followed this trend and used the castle as a family summer residence. Today the castle is still well-equipped with Renaissance and Baroque furniture, carefully collected by the Ravené family. Since 1978 the castle has been owned by Cochem. It is run by "Reichsburg Cochem Ltd." Cochem Castle, situated on an outstanding hill more than 100 metres above the river Moselle, is a popular tourist attraction. St Martin Church The Saint Martin Church in Cochem, is a Roman Catholic church belonging to the Diocese of Trier. The church is located on the Moselpromonade on the left bank of the Moselle. The oldest parts of the church were built in the second half of the fifteenth century. It was destroyed in WW2 and redesigned in a contemporary style in 1955. A Gothic remnant dates to 1456. The original 1733 Baroque tower was rebuilt in 1963. London artists Patrick Reyntiens and Graham Jones created glass windows in 2009. Marc Chagall inspired the confessional chapel panels. Moselschleife Bremm Aussichtspunkt Breathtaking views of the Moselle valley and countless vineyards are an automatic part of a Moselle holiday. And the Moselle really has some to offer on its 544 km stretch of river. Above the wine and holiday resort of Kröv is the mountain chapel of Kröv from 1882 directly on the road. We parked our car in the small parking lot next door, looked at the church from the inside and a little above the church on a park bench the beautiful weather and Enjoyed the panorama. Geierlay Suspension Bridge The bridge is the attraction for people without a fear of heights and adventurers. Modeled after Nepalese suspension bridges, the “Geierlay Suspension Bridge” spans from one bridgehead to the other. The name was chosen in a competition and refers to the area of the land registry the bridge is located in.Initial contact point is the visitor center in Mörsdorf, which is equipped with an information terminal, a restaurant and public facilities. Location: In the center of the Hunsrück- spans the valley between the municipalities of Sosberg and Mörsdorf Length: 360 Meters Height: 100 Meters Eltz Castle With its unique location in the heart of the wild natural scenery of the Elzbach valley and its fascinating architecture, Eltz Castle is the embodiment of a knight's castle. Eltz Castle has been owned by the family of the same name for more than 850 years. Thanks to expert diplomacy it has managed to escape destruction during wars and times of conflict. It is a private property and the entry is restricted.
