Patient diversity remains a problem in clinical trials. Although FDA- approved medicines serve a diverse population of Americans, participation in clinical trials remains predominantly white and male. The FDA would like to address this problem, and one of its tools is the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity in the Office of the Commissioner at FDA. In this webinar segment, RADM Richardae Araojo, associate commissioner for minority health and director of the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity, discusses the office and her role in it. She notes work the office is doing with CTTI and MRCT at Harvard. Araojo also notes many of the educational materials her office has available to assist with recruiting minority patients into clinical trials.
