Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, visited the Special Branch Headquarters in Peshawar today. Upon his arrival at the headquarters, he was warmly received by the Additional IGP Special Branch, DIG Special Branch, and other senior police officers. A smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour. Following this, the IGP inaugurated renovation works and a newly designed software system at the Special Branch Headquarters. He also inspected the office of the Additional IGP Special Branch and toured the headquarters. The IGP chaired a high-level meeting at the Special Branch, where he was given a detailed briefing on the department’s restructuring, professional performance, ongoing challenges, and strategic plans in light of the current security situation. He was informed that the Special Branch maintains regular coordination with other law enforcement and security agencies, ensuring timely sharing of intelligence to thwart the plans of hostile elements. It was further briefed that with the help of modern IT-based policing methods, the Special Branch keeps a close watch on anti-state actors and effectively foils their nefarious designs. The IGP was also apprised of the Special Branch's networking efforts and overall performance. He was told that the department is fully prepared to handle any situation professionally and is committed to meeting public expectations in challenging circumstances. He was also informed about the new, modern tablets provided to the field staff of the Special Branch. The IGP was told that personnel across all districts have been equipped with the necessary tools and resources to carry out their duties effectively. Appreciating the professional activities and preparedness of the Special Branch, the IGP instructed the department to maintain strict surveillance on anti-state elements, especially in sensitive areas including tribal districts, and to foil any attempts that could jeopardize the province's long-standing peace. He emphasized that the peace in the province has been achieved through great sacrifices and that no one would be allowed to disrupt the journey toward stability and prosperity. He highlighted the pivotal role of the Special Branch, calling it the "eyes and ears" of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and assured that all of its operational needs will be met on a priority basis. Earlier, the IGP inspected various sections of the Special Branch Headquarters, where modern technology-based tablets were distributed to enhance capacity and bring innovation to information sharing and other processes.
