Farnblüte - a musical piece for a narrator, cello and grand piano with a rich folkloristic background. Ivan's Kupala is a Slavic summer holiday which combines lots of colorful traditions: jumping over the fire, weaving flower wreaths, searching for the fern flower — which doesn’t exist, but according to legends, it brings eternal love. All these elements are musically featured in a piece. Text from a poem by Ihor Kalynets: «We pray to the fire, the primal god of the proud, in the dance of frenzy, in the chase of instinct. Whoever loses rhythm, balance, or ground — tomorrow will rise as ash through the soil. We pray to the fire that grieves with our blood, that ignites the fern of the heart with the call of our ancestors. We pray to the fire beneath its radiant cover with the words of a hymn, sharp and stirring: “Cleanse us of defilement, Kupala flame, you who feed your blaze with the breast of the sun, who, hiding at dawn behind veils of mist, will wash your fiery body in the rivers of the Homeland."»
