Finding My Way: Navigating Faith and Alcohol in Adolescence and Adulthood

In this episode, I discuss my beginnings with stage fright, my first bouts with alcohol, my failure to launch, and how I came to Jesus in my sobriety. We all experienced hard times in our younger years, but I seemed to take mine to an extreme with alcohol. I found solace in alcohol after I lost my childhood dream of becoming a pro basketball player and started building a fortress around myself after a tough interaction with my Dad(or many of them). I began to isolate more and more as I struggled with my drinking. Again, finding solace in being alone. But, as time went on, I started to realize that there was more to life than just drinking. I opened up a world of possibilities once I put alcohol down for good. Through my sobriety, I've regained my youthful excitement for life! Being alcohol free has allowed me the opportunity to be more honest with myself and gain the confidence that I'd always dreamed of having. Through my sobriety, I've been able to rekindle my relationship with God. Without my sobriety, I would not have been able to grow in my faith nearly as much as I would have if I were still a drinker. Being sober has allowed me to have more of a margin to meet new people, be more kind, and take life in stride. It's never too late to LAUNCH!!!
