Subscribe, share, like and comment for more content! Originally built for Canada's Wonderland in 1984, SkyRider was one of TOGO's innovative stand-up coasters. This particular model, part of the "Astro Comet" line, was the model that introduced the stand-up coaster on the market. In fact, the first one was Kings Island's King Kobra (1984 - 2001) SkyRider was the second stand-up built from the ground-up as such (the first ones were originally converted sitdown rides) and was located where Yukon Striker currently is. The ride operated until 2014, when it was closed for good. During it's lifespan, it accomodated 23 million riders and managed to be a testament of resilience, as the sister coaster King Kobra was sadly dismantled and Shockwave at Kings Dominion would also close in 2015. However, SkyRider was shipped overseas and completely refurbished, opening in 2015 at Cavallino Matto. The ride, the biggest addition of the park so far, has been operating ever since and it has earned the title of being Europe's only stand-up coaster since Drayton Manor's Shockwave was converted to sit-down trains.
