Date: September 18, 2024 Location: Barnegat Motel, 115 S Main Street, Barnegat Township, New Jersey Late in the evening, police were dispatched to the Barnegat Motel after staff reported that a woman had punched an employee during a noise dispute. When officers arrived, they interviewed witnesses and a man named Anthony Giudis, who admitted that his fiancée — later identified as 19-year-old Stephanie Starr — was responsible but refused to give her name. A short time later, officers found Stephanie running behind the motel. She immediately admitted that she had active arrest warrants from Ocean County, and police confirmed it through dispatch. Stephanie was taken into custody but became increasingly combative — screaming, cursing, and refusing commands. During transport, she slipped out of her handcuffs, forcing officers to restrain her again using flex cuffs (zip ties). On arrival at the Stafford Police Department, a female dispatcher conducted a search, during which Stephanie allegedly kicked an officer in the leg. Fortunately, no injury was reported.
