The video discusses the types of devices: biological or synthetic material that takes the place of all or a portion of a body part; biological or synthetic material that assists or prevents a physiological function; therapeutic material that is not absorbed by, eliminated by, or incorporated into a body part; and mechanical or electronic appliances to assist, monitor, take the place of, or prevent a physiological function. Also described are the guidelines for devices and exceptions to the guidelines. There are two appendices related to devices. Appendix F: Device Classifications and Appendix G: Device Key and Aggregation Table. The types of devices (autologous tissue substitute, nonautologous tissue substitute, synthetic tissue, and zooplastic tissue) are defined.
