After nine months of living here, while I don't purport to be an expert, I've realised something fundamental: you don't pick Bali. It picks you. And if you're here, you have a responsibility to ask yourself hard questions. What are you co-creating here? How are you contributing? Are you showing up as a guest or an extractive consumer? Does this land actually want you here - and are you willing to hear the answer? The Balinese understand something most visitors miss: this land is sentient, sacred, and it will reflect back to you exactly what you need to see. Empaths will know this as soon as they arrive in Bali. Sometimes that's beautiful. Sometimes it's uncomfortable. But it will always be transformative.
