We spent 24 hours in Pinnawala, Sri Lanka to see the elephants from the Elephant Orphanage and stay at one of the 'elephant hotels'. We'd read mixed reviews on whether to come and see the elephants here, so wanted to find out for ourselves if it was an ethical way to do so. After spending a day here, it didn't feel 100% right to us. It was very tailored towards tourists and we did see some mistreatment of the male elephants in particular. I would highly recommend seeing elephants in the wild on safari in Sri Lanka instead, like we did at Yala National Park - I have a video coming in a week or so to show you!
