It represents a nostalgia of the beautiful homeland that we dream of. The piece paints the scenery of Taiwan along its rich developmental journey, and aims to arouse listeners’ concern about over-exploitation, air and water pollution, over-development and other environmental issues that exist on the island. Not looking back into the past, the composer hopes that in the future we could protect our Formosa through daily eco-friendly acts. Not adapting Taiwanese folk song melodies, the composer wrote original themes to depict the Taiwan of our times. The music comprises of six sections, describing the journey of Taiwan: “the voice of the earth”, “the morning villages and the evening cities”, “the tranquil mountains”, “the tears of the rivers”, “the revenge of the land” and “the new Formosa”.
