Makati Subway Project Goodbye na The ambitious Makati Subway project, once hailed as a transformative infrastructure development for the bustling financial district, now hangs in a precarious balance, its future clouded by a significant legal and logistical hurdle. The project, spearheaded by Philippine Infradev Holdings (INFRA), a company with significant Chinese investment, is grappling with the repercussions of a recent Supreme Court ruling that redefined the jurisdictional boundaries between Makati and Taguig cities. The crux of the issue lies in the Supreme Court's decision, which transferred several barangays, including Cembo, West Rembo, and Pembo, from Makati's jurisdiction to Taguig's. This seemingly administrative change has sent shockwaves through the subway project, as the planned depot and crucial stations were strategically positioned within these now-Taguig territories. Specifically, the depot in Barangay Cembo, along with the proposed stations at the University of Makati in West Rembo and Ospital ng Makati in Pembo, are now situated in an entirely different local government unit. This jurisdictional shift has rendered the original alignment of the subway "no longer feasible," according to INFRA. The meticulously planned route, designed to connect key areas of Makati such as Ayala Avenue, Makati City Hall, Poblacion Heritage Site, University of Makati, and Ospital ng Makati, is now disrupted. The placement of the depot, a vital component for the subway's operation, and the location of the stations serving critical community hubs are now in question. Philippine Infradev Holdings, the private sector proponent that entered into a joint venture agreement with the Makati City has announced that the subway Project is now not feasible to continue. The original vision of the Makati Subway project was to create a modern, efficient, and interconnected transportation network that would alleviate traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth in the city. The proposed 10-stop subway system was intended to serve as a vital artery, connecting key commercial, educational, and healthcare institutions. However, the Supreme Court's ruling has thrown this ambitious plan into disarray, leaving the project's future uncertain. Other projects in makati City is the Redevelopment of Dela Rosa Carpark 2 into a new linear active park and commercial complex.Several underpass along Ayala avenue is also undergoing Rehabilitation.
