Polish Railroad Crossings in Lithuania – 2024

Lithuania is one of the countries in Eastern Europe that shares a common history with Poland. Despite the passage of hundreds of decades, the old history still finds reflection in numerous aspects of life, including railway transport. This video presents three railroad crossings in three different districts (apskritis), equipped with Polish-made devices. The footage in the form of photos and videos shows how modern technologies developed by Polish engineers ensure safety on the railway network of the national manager LTG Infra. The most interesting place is the intersection of National Road No. 148 (Krašto Kelias 148) with the tracks of the freight station in Radviliškis, where modern, computer-based devices from Wielobranżowa i Projektowa Sp. z o.o. Monat have been installed. Hydraulic gates and LED siglans are operated from a distance by a dispatcher via CCTV cameras. This is the only place in this country that strikingly resembles a typical railroad crossing in Poland. Another location featured in the video is Šėtos Street in Kėdainiai, where a semi-automatic SPA-4 system has been in operation since 2002. The signals are controlled by a gatekeeper who closes the gates shortly before the train passes. The last crossing in Jūrės miestelis is equipped with a standard SPA-5 computer signal system, manufactured by Polish branch of Bombardier Transportation, with modern EHZ-83 LED signals.
