Yummm, mash ki daal Pakistani style is pure comfort food 😋 Here’s a classic ghar-wali recipe—simple, creamy, and full of desi flavor. 🌼 Mash Ki Daal (Pakistani Style) 📝 Ingredients Mash daal (urad daal, dhuli hui) – 1 cup Water – 4–5 cups Salt – to taste Turmeric (haldi) – ¼ tsp For Tarka (Tempering): Ghee or oil – 3–4 tbsp (ghee preferred 🤍) Onion – 1 medium, finely sliced Garlic – 5–6 cloves, chopped or sliced Green chilies – 2–3, slit Cumin seeds (zeera) – 1 tsp Red chili powder – ½–1 tsp Red chili flakes – ½ tsp (optional) Garam masala – ¼ tsp (optional but very Pakistani) Fresh coriander – for garnish Ginger julienne – optional but recommended 👩🍳 Method Wash & soak mash daal for 30 minutes (optional but helps it cook faster). In a pot, add daal, water, salt, and turmeric. Cook on medium flame until daal is soft and creamy. (Lightly whisk or mash it for that smooth texture.) Prepare tarka: Heat ghee/oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds → let them crackle. Add onions and fry until golden brown. Add garlic and green chilies; sauté till fragrant. Lower heat and add red chili powder + chili flakes. Immediately pour this tarka over the daal (or add daal into the pan). Sprinkle garam masala, mix gently, and simmer for 5 minutes.
