How to: 06-08 Dodge Ram Headlight Removal

How to remove the headlights on a third generation Dodge Ram. This is a 2006 model which is the face lifted version. I need to replace the parking light bulbs, the orange reflector on the bottom is in fact a light and both sides are burnt out. Using a 3/8” drive ratchet, with a 6” extension and a 10mm socket. Remove the nut behind the headlight. Open the hood, and using the ratchet again, remove the two 10mm bolts next to the headlight behind the grill. Mine are kind of stuck into place and you may have the same issue. I found the tab on the fender side to have a little groove worn into it, making it a little harder to remove. You can use a nylon trim tool to help it out, jiggling the lights back and forth seems to help a bit. Here you can see the various lights on the rear, these are typically a quarter turn twist to remove the bulbs and replace as needed. Reassembly is in reverse of removal. Push the light into place, make sure all those tabs around aligned. You’ll know it’s seated correctly when the space between the light and fender is the same. Then reinstall the bolts along the grill side. Install the nut from the fender well side. And then reinstall the rubber access cap. And as you can see, the lights are functioning correctly.
